Friday, February 20, 2026
In-Person Conference (First Presbyterian Church: Evanston, IL)

CFC’s twenty-eighth Annual Day of Workshops highlights the clinical application of Bowen theory in a variety of settings. It would be useful to therapists, counselors, social workers, psychologists, clergy, organizational consultants, and anyone interested in a deeper understanding of family systems theory.

This one-day in person conference includes a morning keynote address by CFC faculty member Terri Pilarski followed by a video and discussion of a presentation by Dr. Murray Bowen. The afternoon offers two 70-minute workshop sessions with multiple workshops choices for each.

About the conference:

Dr. Murray Bowen developed a comprehensive new theory of the family. Based on his view of the human as part of nature and the family as a natural system, Dr. Bowen described the emotional process and the automatic patterns of behavior among family members. He is best known for his concept of differentiation of self and the scale of differentiation that described the broad range of variation in human emotional functioning.

The Annual Day of Workshops is a clinical conference highlighting the basics of Bowen theory and its application in a variety of clinical settings. It would be useful to therapists, counselors, social workers, psychologists, clergy, organizational consultants, and others.

Each one-day conference includes a morning keynote address by CFC faculty followed by a video and discussion of a presentation by Dr. Murray Bowen. The afternoon offers two 70-minute workshop sessions with multiple workshops choices for each.
