Mandatory Reporting Seminar for Illinois Clinicians

Illinois Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act (ANCRA)

ANCRA was enacted in 1975 and has been amended several times. On January 1, 2020, Public Act 101-564 of the Act went into effect with significant changes that affect all mandated reporters in Illinois. The purpose of this seminar is to examine the reporting requirements for clinicians working with children in the State of Illinois.

Dr. Robin Shultz, DSW, will discuss who is mandated to report, the mandated and the reporter’s role and legal obligations that one assumes in that role. She will
define the types of child abuse and neglect, and how to recognize signs of it and report it. She will present steps to take and the documents to use when making a report. She will conclude with understanding the DCFS process that occurs after a Hotline call is made.

Dr. Robin Shultz, DSW, is a graduate of the Post-graduate Training Program at the Center for Family Consultation. She graduated from Aurora University with her doctorate in Clinical Social Work in 2018. She has worked as a school social worker in the western suburbs of Chicago for 20 years and has a private practice in Geneva, Illinois.
