Leading a Business in Anxious Times—Online

New Program for Leaders starting October 22, 2020

Program Description

This course introduces Systems-Based Leadership® to leaders, coaches and consultants working in or with organizations. A nine-month course, it provides a practical approach to leading by addressing the most challenging of all leadership skills, managing oneself in relationship systems, also known as the “politics” unique to every organization.

Systems-Based Leadership is an application of “Bowen theory”, a theory of human behavior long used in the mental health field to guide family therapists. The theory reveals clearly the interdependence of individuals and groups within an organization, and the patterns of functioning that generally operate outside of our awareness. Participants will learn a new way to “see” relationships within and among individuals, their department, business unit and entire organization. Using a fresh, broader view of the organization, Systems-based Leadership is an approach to leading that enables leaders at all levels of the enterprise to improve their performance around inspiring innovation and leading change, improving quality, and bolstering customer, client, and employee engagement and satisfaction.

Who should attend?

Challenges facing businesses today require exceptional leadership throughout the organization, from the C-Suite, to department managers and unit managers, to supervisors and team leaders. Businesses large and small are fighting to survive and thrive in the harshest of business climates today. Besieged by the consequences of the worst pandemic in a hundred years, organizations are faced with loss all around them. Cut-backs in revenues that lead to reducing the workforce, back ordered parts from vendors, resulting in shortages of inventories, fixed overhead costs that are unsustainable and many more such issues need to be addressed. All have a significant impact on the organization’s human capital.

The next few years will be a rebuilding phase as strategic board members and dedicated CEOs seek to create innovative processes, products, services, and educational opportunities to assure stability and secure a real future for their companies. They will need leaders with maturity and energy; individuals who have vision, a leadership presence that inspires confidence, and energizes the organization throughout. Most important, leaders at all levels must learn to manage their own anxiety and reactivity, so as to avoid amplifying and spreading anxiety across their organizations. This course will help leaders in achieving those goals.
